Drew Morton sank the go-ahead 3-pointer and came up with the game-winning steal during the waning moments of Cullman’s 58-57 home victory against Decatur on Thursday night.

The Bearcats, who improved to 1-0, travel to Hartselle next Monday.

% Fairview 71, Hanceville 63: Luke Yarbrough scored five 3-pointers and made 10-of-11 attempts from the free- throw line to lift the Aggies to a season-opening road win against the Bulldogs on Thursday night.

Yarbrough secured a game-high 26 points for Fairview (1-0), while Cameron Guthrie (16), and Austin Turner and Bryson Fletcher (seven apiece) also contributed.

Hanceville (0-1) was paced by Brendan Flanigan’s 24 points.

The Bulldogs travel to Dora next Tuesday, while Fairview hits the road against James Clemens.

% St. Bernard 53, Southeastern 44: Christian Peterson turned in a double-double (29 points and 10 rebounds), and Elijah Price racked up 16 points to help the Saints improve to 2-0 following a road win on Thursday evening.

St. Bernard hosts J.B Pennington on Monday.

% Fairview 54, Hanceville 29: The Lady Aggies outscored the Lady Bulldogs 27-6 in the second half to kick off their season with a road win on Thursday night.

Valentina Klocker (13 points and 13 rebounds), Abby Schnittker (12 points), Abbi Taylor (10 points) and McKinna Yearwood (nine points) were the top contributors for Fairview (1-0).

Kelly Pickett (13 points) and Cassidy Campbell (eight points) paved the way for Hanceville (0-1), which shot only eight percent from the floor in the final two quarters.

% Cullman 68, Decatur 45: The Lady Bearcats dominated en route to a season-opening win on Thursday night.

Cullman (1-0) nabbed top-notch contributions from Anna Katherine Eastman (12 points), Anna Evans (12 points), Anna Bowden (nine points), Olivia Neal (seven points) and Hannah Hoffman (seven points).
