PINSON – According to Pinson Valley head football coach and athletics director Matt Glover, the Indians are now in the market for two new head basketball coaches.
Sixth-year head boys coach Clint Argo will be replaced following a 3-27 season, his worst as head man for the Indians.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t overcome some of the difficulties we faced this year. As a result, the administration decided to go in a different direction,” Argo said.
Brian Miller constructed a 2-28 record in his one and only season leading the girls team. Both men will continue teaching at Pinson Valley High School, according to Glover.
“Administration came in and started looking for ways to improve the best they can. They thought the best move was to put the program in a different direction,” Glover said. First-year Pinson Valley principal Michael Turner and the school’s administration will put flight to a coaching search next week.
“I think there will be some guys and gals (apply for the job) that sees the success we’ve had in basketball, and I think we’ll get some good candidates,” Glover said. “We’ll find the best person we can find.”
Argo led the Indians to four sub-regional berths in his six seasons at the helm. His team went 0-4 in those contests. He also led Pinson Valley to the Class 6A, Area 12 championship last season.
“I am happy with what we accomplished while I was at Pinson,” Argo said. “Winning three area championships in a row was a great accomplishment for the program and the school. Best of luck to the Pinson Valley program in the future. I was happy and proud to coach at and represent Pinson Valley High School.”
