COUNTY TOURNAMENT (VB): Good Hope races past Holly Pond for 5th title in 7 seasons

HANCEVILLE — Good Hope’s varsity boys have been the program to beat inside Cullman County the last few years — and that trend will continue after Saturday.
The No. 2 Raiders took control from the outset against the fourth-seeded Broncos, building a comfortable lead in the first half to earn the comfortable win (60-42) for their fifth county title — 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024 the others — in the past seven seasons.
Good Hope put together a solid performance this time around as well, winning its three bouts at Wallace State’s Tom Drake Coliseum this week by an average of 19 points per game.
Player Speak: “We really held up to our standard. It’s been fun playing in the county championship for four seasons and playing with these guys.” — Good Hope’s Jacob Haynes
“We have a legacy. We want to go further than the county tournament, but we always love coming here to compete and show the county who’s the best ever year. Most importantly, as Coach (Drew) Adams tells us every day, it’s bigger than basketball. We’ve got to love each other, have fun and give the glory to God. That’s why we’re here.” — Good Hope’s Tyler Cone
