- Marijuana, drugs and cash were confiscated in the arrests.
Cullman police officers, alerted to two people asleep in a vehicle at an apartment complex parking lot, led to drug charges Sunday against two Florida residents.
Officers Zachary Latham, Intae Suh and David Brooks reported smelling an aroma of marijuana as they approached the vehicle at the Denson Avenue SW apartment complex. After searching the car, the officers found 4 pounds of marijuana, Alprazolam and Oxycodone pills, methamphetamine, liquid codeine and more than $7,500 in cash.
Phillip Elijah McDaris, 20, of Homasassa, Florida, and Nicole Kaye Quenrud, 19, of Crystal River, Florida, were charged with trafficking cannabis, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were booked on the charges at the Cullman County Detention Center and were being held on $1 million bonds.
“I want to commend all officers involved in a job well done in making the arrests, Capt. Becky Boyd said. “I also wish to thank the person who saw something they felt was suspicious and notified police. We could not effectively do our job without the assistance of the public.”
