The Cullman City Planning Commission signed off Monday on a site plan for Royal Technology’s planned multi-million expansion in Cullman Industrial Park V, estimated to create up to 50 new jobs.
The commission also approved a site plan for a 14-unit duplex, Park View Homes, to go up on McNabb Drive Southwest and granted a conditional use permit for Rumors Deli’s new proposed location on Fourth Street Southwest.
But a revised site plan for the eatery will have to be presented — addressing access issues with an adjacent landowner and adequate parking — before the commission can consider approving it. The landmark downtown Cullman eatery is planning to move from its current home in the Warehouse District to the brick building just off U.S. 278 in coming weeks.
On Monday, the restaurant owners withdrew its original site plan at the suggestion of the planning commission to work out an arrangement over access to the property and to get an accurate count available parking spots.
In other business, the commission approved annexing three city-owned properties that were never formally brought into the city limits, said Chairman Mike Voss.
Building Inspector Rick Fulmer elaborated, that the properties could present the city with a potential situation where police and fire personnel can’t go on city properties because they lack jurisdiction to do so. The planning commission made favorable recommendations to the city council for annexations on Tanner Drive Northwest, Mann Drive and Railroad Bed Road.
Additionally, the commission made favorable recommendations to the city council for an annexation request on County Road 483.
