City approves event permits

- Members of the East Elementary Archery Team were recognized by the Cullman City Council on Monday for their first-place finishes at county, regional and state tournaments in the National Archery in Schools Program. Cullman will see the return of a Thanksgiving Day event that benefits local women after the City Council approved a special event permit at Monday’s meeting.
The City Council approved the permit for Daystar House’s Pilgrim’s Trail 5k and Fun Run to take place on the campus of St. Bernard Prep School at 7 a.m. on Nov. 23.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Daystar House shelter for homeless women and women with children.
The council also approved a special event permit request from Lynsey Todd to host a street sale in from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sept. 15-16 from Rumor’s Deli to Flavors Bakery.
In other business, the council:
* Approved a request from Ron Stevenson of Corner Ministries for a special events permit to proclaim “God Loves You” from the sidewalks on the times and days approved by the Police Chief Kenny Culpepper.
* Adopted Resolution No. 2017 – 96 to award bid R-01785 for a Mulcher to the lowest responsible bidder, Bobcat of Huntsville, in the budgeted amount of $16,654.
* Adopted Resolution No. 2017 – 97 to enter into a lease agreement with William Pagan for a building located at 3040 County Road 703. 3. Resolution No. 2017 – 98 to surplus miscellaneous capital items which are no longer needed for public or municipal purposes.
* Adopted Resolution No. 2017 – 99 to extend the property lease with Central Network Retail Group, LLC (Marvin’s) until August 31, 2018 under the terms approved by the Mayor.
* Adopted Resolution No. 2017 – 100 to adopt an accounting policy for the collection of delinquent accounts receivable.
* Adopted Ordinance No. 2017 – 23 to vacate and surplus the right-of-way at Hays Drive NW and Northcrest Drive NW which received a favorable recommendation from the City of Cullman Planning Commission.
