Krista Stricklin scored 28 points, and in doing so climbed to ninth on the state’s all-time girls’ career scoring list, as the No. 6 Wildcats defeated Mortimer Jordan 45-34 to win the Class 5A Area 11 championship Saturday afternoon at Hayden.

Stricklin hit four 3-pointers, including the first three Wildcat field goals of the game, and was 4-4 at the foul line. Haylie McCleney led the Blue Devils with 20 points, with three treys.

Hayden will host a sub-regional playoff game Thursday evening against the loser of Cullman-A.P. Brewer tonight, while Jordan will travel to play the winner of that same game.
