A Gardendale woman was killed today in a two-vehicle crash on Fieldstown Road. Toline Vintson, 84, was killed when her car struck another. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The other driver, a female, was taken to a local hospital for injuries. As of press deadline Tuesday, the coroner’s office said Vintson was the only fatality.

Alabama State Trooper reports say 12-year-old Octavious Chandler, of Tuscaloosa, was killed at about 5:50 p.m. Friday when the driver of the minivan Chandler was riding in, his mother Julia Chandler, apparently blew a tire and lost control, flipping several times before coming to a stop on Interstate 65. Octavious was in the front. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Gardendale police. The rest of the passengers, including his mother, an 8-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, were treated for injuries.
