STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT: Top-ranked Addison sweeps Westminster-Oak Mountain, advances to Class 1A semifinals
BIRMINGHAM — One down, two to go.
Top-ranked Addison took one step further in its quest for a fifth consecutive state title on Wednesday, sweeping Westminster-Oak Mountain (25-11, 25-7, 25-13) to advance to the Class 1A semifinals later this afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs, who moved to 49-8 following the victory, will play either third-ranked Athens Bible or No. 6 Isabella at around 2:30 p.m. for a spot in the championship match on Thursday.
Addison secured early leads in all three sets to put the Lady Knights (19-12) away in a timely fashion at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Abbie Chambless (13 kills, five digs and two blocks), Allie Chambless (10 kills, two digs and one block), McKenzie Berry (seven kills), Savannah Manley (six kills, five blocks and two aces), and Kendra Tyree (12 digs and three aces) were the top contributors for coach Kayla Woodard’s squad.
