PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: ’Cats, Warrior post area wins; Raiders rise to 7th in 4A
Cullman celebrated Senior Night in style on Thursday, easily dispatching Decatur in straight sets (25-8, 25-11, 25-10) for an always-welcome area triumph.
Tally Wilson, one of the Bearcats’ six seniors recognized — Grace Binkowski, Madison Cobbs, Taiya Ponder, Amber Al-Dijaili and Anna Laidley were the others — led the way with 10 aces, while Anna Evans put away nine to go along with eight kills. Tiffani Schwaiger sported the same number of kills.
Binkowski contributed 11 assists and accompanied Al-Dijaili with four digs.
West Point whipped up an area win of its own Thursday, buckling down after dropping a long first set to win the next three in a 27-29, 25-19, 27-25, 25-17 defeat of Russellville.
Good Hope, which entered Thursday 26-3, climbed from eighth to seventh in AL.com’s latest Class 4A rankings.
