LOCAL SPORTS: East Elementary, Cullman Middle claim state archery titles

East Elementary and Cullman Middle both earned first-place finishes at the 2018 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Alabama State Championship Tournament, which took place in Montgomery last week.

East Elementary (3,242) edged Dixon Elementary (3,219) by 23 points for the title. 

Vinemont Elementary (fourth) and Hanceville Elementary (15th) also competed in the talented 18-school field.

Cullman Middle (3,344) bested Vinemont Middle (3,321) by a 23-point margin as well for the crown.

West Point Middle also placed 12th in the 23-school field.

West Point High (fourth) and Good Hope High (sixth) produced solid performances as well in their 15-school field.
