PREP SPORTS: Addison’s Robinson named Athlete of the Week
Ben Robinson ran like he had someplace to be.
Good news for Addison, bad news for Hanceville.
The senior running back delivered a performance for the ages last Friday night, rushing for 220 yards and five touchdowns on just 16 carries in a 40-6 triumph versus the Class 3A Purple and Gold. Robinson scored on runs of 2, 2, 2, 5 and 34 yards to help the 1A Bulldogs improve to 2-0 following the dominant home outing inside A.G. Hicks Stadium.
Having said all that, Robinson is the easy choice for The Times’ Athlete of the Week honor.
Zayne Guthrie, Tyler Borden and Weston Smith combined for 110 rushing yards on 21 carries, while Caleb Crider secured 12 total tackles on defense in the blowout victory for Addison.
Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Mitch Smith Chevrolet, is currently open to football, cross country and volleyball athletes. Nominations are encouraged and cam be submitted to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the athlete’s name, school and statistics/accomplishments. The candidate with the strongest résumé will walk away with the title for that week.
