The city of Cullman received a nod from the Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association recently when its wastewater treatment plant was awarded the Best Operated Plant Award in the Bio-Filter/Trickling Filter category.

In a press release sent to The Times, city of Cullman officials acknowledged the award as a testament to its dedication of plant staff, “who continuously strive to maintain high operational standards and environmental stewardship.”

“We are incredibly proud of our team for achieving this honor,” mayor Woody Jacobs said in the release. “This award reflects our commitment to providing top-tier wastewater services to our community while safeguarding our environment.”

Councilmember David Moss heads the city’s utilities committee. He also included a statement expressing his pride in the achievement and his appreciation for the leadership of plant Superintendent Jake Calloway.

“This award is not just a recognition of our wastewater treatment plant, but a reflection of our city’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of Calloway and his team,” Moss said.
