A 19-year-old Warrior woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle wreck on Highway 160.
According to an Alabama Department of Public Safety report, the wreck happened at 12:25 p.m. about two miles west of Cleveland.
Two other people were injured in the wreck, including a 4-year-old passenger in Lake’s vehicle. The child, taken to Children’s Hospital, was reportedly Lake’s cousin.
The second driver, 51-year-old Kerry Singleton of Jasper, was taken to UAB Hospital with injuries. A third driver, 61-year-old Carl Weil of Longwood, Fla., was not injured.
Details about what caused the wreck were unknown as of Thursday. The accident is still under investigation.
Lake’s death happened just days after Hayden community group Highway 160 Promise staged a memorial motorcade to mark the two-year anniversary of the deaths of Hayden High School cheerleaders Courtney Niceley, Whitney Bradford and Sarah Casey.
Lake graduated from Hayden High School in 2008, the same year Niceley would have also graduated.
Highway 160 Promise founder Amy Camp said the wreck has devastated Blount County residents.
“Every single accident on Highway 160 feels like it is happening to us because the next accident could be one of us,” she said. “Highway 160 Promise wants the public to remember these families and remember those we’ve lost.”
