On Monday, North Jefferson County veterans honored those who have died in the line of duty.

The Hawkins B. Carter American Legion Post 255 and VFW Post 10250 hosted the 15th annual Memorial Day ceremony.

Jefferson County Circuit Judge Tom King was the guest speaker and the Walker Chapel Baptist Church choir sang for the crowd of dozens of people.

One of the traditions is to read aloud the names of deceased veterans that have been recently inscribed onto the North Jefferson Memorial Wall.

This year there were 10 names:

• Charles M. Hooker

• Robert J. McDowell

• Kenneth D. Myrick

• Erskin E. Roden

• Claude A. Roland

• Gordon G. Tidwell

• Vernon C. Wagnor
