Gardendale

Myrex to represent GHS in DAR good citizens program


Shelbie Myrex was recently chosen to represent Gardendale High School in the Daughters of the American Revolution good citizens program and scholarship contest. Shelbie was selected based on the qualities of dependability, truthfulness, loyalty, cooperation, courtesy, self-control, her ability to assume responsibility, and patriotism. She will compete for scholarships on the state level and if selected will then compete nationally.



Gardendale

Medved to compete in scholarship program


Haley Medved was chosen to represent Gardendale High School in the Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award. Haley was selected based on her leadership skills, participation in service organizations and clubs, achievements, employment experience and academic record. Haley will compete in the national principal’s leadership award scholarship program. One-hundred national winners will be chosen this spring to receive a college scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $12,000.

Students to represent GHS at UA Youth Summit


Josh Headley, Joe Jones and Carli Patrick were selected to represent Gardendale High School at the University of Alabama’s Youth Summit. They were selected due to leadership abilities.

Beall receives UAB School of Education scholarship

Kristy Beall of Gardendale, a junior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School (UAB) of Education, recently received a $500 UAB School of Education Textbook Scholarship. Beall’s major is secondary education/English.

FES class seeks WWII info in order to write novel


Fultondale Elementary School’s RLC/gifted class is looking for available individuals who lived or fought during World War II because we are writing a novel.
