CINCINNATI, Iowa — A woman being pursued by police called 911 twice within 15 minutes Tuesday night, the second time to tell officers she planned to pull over after she finished smoking a cigarette.

Apparently not willing to wait, officers apprehended Carrie Ann Scott, 33, of Centerville, Iowa by using a police cruiser to end the chase.

The Daily Iowegian reports Scott was wanted on two out-of-county warrants, according to Centerville Police Chief Tom Demry, who said charges stemming from the pursuit would also be filed.

After the chase, Scott was taken from the Appaloosa County Jail to a nearby hospital for an unknown medical problem. She was later released on her own recognizance from the out-of-county warrants, said Demry.

The pursuit began at approximately 10:26 p.m. Tuesday when a police officer tried to stop Scott’s vehicle near Ontario Street and Valley Drive in Centerville. Scott failed to yield and led police on a brief chase on mostly gravel roads through the western part of the county before officers used a Centerville police car to halt Scott’s vehicle at an intersection about three miles north of Cincinnati.

Demry said Scott twice called 911 during the chase, asking during the second call to let officers know she would pull over after she finished her cigarette.
