Weather: Warming up. Partly sunny skies for today, with a high in the upper 50s. A 30 percent chance of showers tonight with lows in the lower 40s, then we’ll have cloudy skies on Saturday with highs in the upper 60s. A bit more sun on Sunday, with highs hitting the lower 70s. Rain and colder temps return on Monday.

Comedian Tim Wilson dies. The popular comic, best known for his hit song “Garth Brooks Ruined My Life,” was found dead of a heart attack at his home in Columbus, Ga. Wilson made numerous appearances in the metro Birmingham area, and was scheduled to appear at the Comedy Club Stardome in Hoover this weekend. Wilson was 54.

Sports: Mowin’ them down. Mortimer Jordan pitcher Taylor Goodwin tallied a whopping 19 strikeouts and gave up just one hit as his team shut out Moody 2-0 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader on Thursday. Jordan also won the nightcap 6-3. Elsewhere, Corner defeated Hayden 4-2 in nine innings… Softball: An improving Pinson Valley squad took down Gardendale 6-3, while Hayden demolished Good Hope 17-0 in three innings, with Brooke Meadows smashing a three-run homer… Girls soccer: Gardendale won its season opener over Moody by a 1-0 score, with Sabrina Knight netting the match’s only goal.
