Hayden just couldn’t seem to get enough traction against Springville, especially after the Tigers outscored the Wildcats 20-4 in the third period, on their way to a 54-30 win in the first round of the Class 4A Area 11 girls basketball tournament at Mortimer Jordan.

The Cats had no answer for an outside barrage by Springville after intermission, which included three 3-point baskets by London Coleman in the third quarter alone and four for the game.

Coleman led the Tigers with 16 points, and Kylee Kimbrough added 11.

Savanna Woodard, Hayden’s eighth-grade guard, led her team with 11 points.

The Wildcats end the season with a 14-12 record, while Springville (14-9) does on to the area finals Friday night against Jordan.
