Baseball: Southeastern 3, Appalachian 2
Seth Wadsworth’s pop-up hit drove in Brandon Jones for what became the winning run, as Southeastern defeated Appalachian 3-2 in Tuesday baseball action.
Jones was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple that, and also had a double. John Sims put the Mustangs on the scoreboard with an RBI hit in the fourth inning.
The Eagles kept the game close with a pair of runs in the fifth, coming on back-to-back doubles from Zach Stack and Oziel Maldonado.
Austin Cates (1-1) got the win, striking out eight while allowing five hits and a walk in six innings. Mauris Zamora pitched the seventh inning to get the save. Stack was the losing pitcher, allowing 10 hits but fanning five Mustangs.
Southeastern (8-12) hosts Locust Fork on Friday.
