Monday again, after a long holiday weekend — we can’t seem to get going, either…

Weather: Maybe some rain. There’s a chance of scattered showers and storms today, mainly in the afternoon, with a high in the middle 80s and a rain chance of 50 percent. Rain chances decrease to 30 percent tonight with a low around 70. The patter repeats on Tuesday.

Unrest continues in Egypt. Reuters reports this morning that at least 40 people were killed early Monday, when Muslim Brotherhood supporters opened fire at the military barracks where deposed Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi is being held. It’s the latest incident after Mursi, the nation’s first democratically-elected leader in many years, was run out of office by a military coup.

Too slow, too low. Investigators are trying to find out why an Asiana Airlines flight was not flying fast enough or high enough when it crashed at the end of a runway at San Francisco International Airport. The plane clipped the edge of the runway, which juts out over water. Miraculously, only two passengers out of more than 300 were killed.

Sports: For queen and country. Andy Murray became the first tennis player from the United Kingdom in 77 years to win the gentlemen’s singles championship at Wimbledon. Murray took down top-seeded Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Sunday afternoon… Pro basketball: Kevin Durant, star forward for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, is engaged — to another pro basketball player. Monica Wright, who plays for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA, announced the engagement after her game Sunday. It’s the first time that two players from the complementary leagues will wed.
