(Video) ‘Music Man’ show ready for August
The dates and times are set for Cullman Community Theatre to raise the curtain on its first show.
“Music Man” will debut Aug. 18-19 at Cullman High School Auditorium, featuring a cast ranging in age from 5 to 70, said Director Wayne Cook.
About 50 residents will be on-stage for the musical, while another 25 or more have been working in other capacities to bring the performance to life. Rehearsals have been ongoing at Cullman Civic Center, and Cook said he is pleased with the response, enthusiasm and talent that came forward to participate.
“I’ve just been overwhelmed with the response for our first production,” Cook said. “We’ve felt all along that people wanted this and the turnout and effort is proving that. This is going to be an exciting time in our community, watching community theater come to life and hopefully gain strong support.”
Cullman Community Theatre is offering Theater Sponsorships through Aug. 10 to support the production and future performances. Sponsorships range from $50 and up. Sponsors receive advertisements in printed materials, depending on the level of sponsorship. Sponsorship packages can be viewed at the Cullman Civic Center.
“One thing we’re hoping to see is support from businesses and industries, as well as private donors to support and strengthen community theatre,” Cook said. “It’s important for the community to have this outlet and it’s something that investors looking at our area want to know about. The arts are very important in building the quality of life and helping to attract business.”
Performances of Music Man will be 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 18. The Aug. 19 show is at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Adult tickets may be purchased early at the Cullman Civic Center.
