Fultondale finishes second in tourney

The Fultondale Lady Wildcats finished as the runner-up in the small school county tournament when they lost to Oak Grove 4-1 on Friday night.
In the semi-finals, eighth grader Cadi “Boo” Oliver sustained a cut to her left forearm and had to receive medial help. She returned to the park after getting four stitches, but will be out a week.
Fultondale beat Shades Valley in the game, 2-1, with Oliver scoring both runs before she left the field. She doubled in the first inning and came home on Haley Hill’s RBI-single. Later in the game, she singled and came around to score.
Camden Marrs (2-0) got the win.
With the loss in the finals, Fultondale slipped to 5-3 on the season.

Britani Howell (1-0) was the winning pitcher, as she threw a one-hitter over three innings. She struck out seven.
At the plate, Karleena Unlap went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored and three RBIs. Cadi Oliver and Monica Roscoe had RBI-singles.
Fultondale 6,
Shades Valley 0
Oliver (1-1), threw a one-hitter and struck out six. She walked only one batter.
At the plate, Chelsey McCombs had a two-RBI double and Oliver went 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Oak Grove 3,
Fultondale 1
Shelbi Smith (1-1) took the loss despite no allowing an earned run. Four Fultondale errors allowed three Oak Grove runs.
Smith threw a four-hitter and struck out six.
At the plate, Howell went 2-for-2 with the only Lady Wildcat RBI.Smith went 2-for-3 and Oliver went 1-for-2. Fultondale slipped to 4-2 overall.
