Meeting for Trip

Concert

Nov. 14 Alabama Teen Challenge is putting together a benefit concert to be held at Gardendale’s First Baptist Church on Nov. 14, 7 p.m., with Shawn McDonald, Leah Faith and Jake Smith to perform. Teen Challenge is now celebrating it’s 50th anniversary of helping men, women, and teenagers defeat their drug and alcohol problem. Tickets for this event are currently on sale at www.itickets.com for $10 in advance or can be purchased at the door for $14. Groups of 10 or more are $8 each. TOPS Meetings

Catholic Faith Classes

Ladies Bible Study

On Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. at Gardendale First Baptist Church, there will be classes on various subjects taught by different teachers from the church. The subjects include “when wallflowers dance,” “marriage,” “Lord, is it warfare? Teach me to stand.” “Can we talk? Soul stirring conversations with God.” On Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. there will be another class on warfare taught by Kay Arthur. For more information call the church. Fire Department Open House

Oct. 11 The Mt. Olive Fire and Rescue will have an open house on Oct. 11. You can meet your volunteers, tour the station and learn about fire safety. There will be lunch and children’s activities. For more information call 631-2051.

Free Child Care

Yard Sale and Fall Festival

Oct. 10, 11 Walkers Chapel Baptist Church will be having a yard sale Oct. 10 and 11 from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day and on Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. We will also have our fall festival. There will be door prizes, games, food and entertainment by Beverly’s Dance. This is a free event.

Oct. 10 MJHS class of 1969 is hosting a tailgate party for the homecoming game on Oct. 10. Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for 6 weeks to 4-years-old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. We follow the Jefferson County School system calendar, so we are out during all of their breaks. For more information call 647-9614.

Haunted Barn

Oct. 25 and 31 Corner High School baseball team will hold a Halloween haunted barn on Oct. 25 and Oct. 31. Entrance is free, but every $5 donation puts you in a drawing to win prizes. There will be a free movie by the fire and popcorn, hot dogs, sweets, drinks and much more at 8020 Wade Road.

Medicare Tour

Nov. 20 from 9:30 a.m. – noon at the Birmingham Botanical Garden’s Auditorium, “Let’s Talk Turkey” Medicare Van Tour will take place. This is a free event for seniors and Medicare beneficiaries to receive the latest information on Medicare and other health benefits. Health screenings will be provided.
