Social happenings in Gardendale and surrounding areas
**Friday August 30 marked a milestone for Martha Hill Thomas of Gardendale as she celebrated her retirement from Progressive Life with a party! The party was hosted by her co-workers Nathan Scott, Laura Leigh Latta, Lydia Messina, Matt Mason, Meredith Puccio and Mona Leopard.
The party was staged as an art gallery show displaying some of Martha’s photographs on easels. The cake was even topped with a camera! Guests enjoyed a cheese and fruit tray and a special peach tea made from Mona Leopard’s special recipe.
Martha has been married to Bill ‘Red’ Thomas for forty-eight years. They plan to travel now that Martha is retiring. Their first trip is planned to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Mt. Rushmore.
Everyone wishes Martha a happy healthy retirement and safe travels!
*** Snow Rogers PTA hosted an Open House Sept. 6 for Kindergarten through second grades and September 8 for third through sixth grades.
Parents and grandparents visited the classrooms of their students and were given the opportunity to place membership to the PTA.
There was a raffle held for new members and SRE Bulldog t-shirts were sold.
The SRE PTA sponsors many events throughout the year that help to make money for school. This year they will have a booth at the Gardendale Elementary School’s Fall Festival.
*** Alan and Bethany Guess Riethmaier announce the birth of their son, Charles ‘Charlie’ Walker Riethmaier!
Charlie was born August 29 weighing in at 7lbs 5oz.and was 21 inches long.
Proud grandparents are Pattie Goodall Riethmaier of Gardendale, Mike Riethmaier of Breman and Rev.Dr.Rudy Guess and Gina Guess of Tuscumbia. Charlie’s great-grandparents are Al and Dovie Riethmaier of Gardendale; the late Dr. Gordon Goodall and Bebe also of Gardendale; the late Cooper and Myra Guess and Pete and Sue Yoakum of Sevierville, TN.
Also, welcoming Charlie are his big sister Evie (8) and big brother Patterson (4).
