Bobby Ray McCravy, Sr.

Bobby Ray McCravy, Sr. of Mt. Olive was born on July 15, 1931, raised in Cullman, and passed away on August 14, 2013 at the age of 82. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive; he enjoyed Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves and camping with friends. He loved rocking babies and his favorite quote was, “Thank God for my children.”

Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Billy McCravy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris McCravy; sons, Butch McCravy (Linda), Rick McCravy (Karon); daughters, Kathy Wise (Fred), Kristy Cole (Chuck); brother Jerry McCravy (Sam); sisters, Sarah Mann and Annie Ruth Culver; 11 grandchildren: eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A visitation was held at First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive on Aug. 16 with a funeral service at the church on Aug. 17. Interment followed in Oakwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors for his service in the U.S. Army.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
