(UPDATE) One dead in shooting in southeast Cullman

Cullman Police are continuing an investigation into a shooting this weekend that left a man dead and his wife injured.

According to the Cullman Police Department, officers received a call about a possible shooting on Kim Lane SE in the early morning hours on Sunday. There they found Shelly Marie Dunkin, 42, in her home at 1315 Kim Lane SE with a gunshot wound to the face. Her husband, Miles Timothy Dunkin, 56, was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Mrs. Dunkin was taken to UAB by helicopter and later released.

In a statement the CPD said, “This is an on-going investigation and at this time there is no danger to the public.  We may release more information on the investigation at a later date.”
