Jo Ann Thomas
Jo Ann Thomas of Castle Heights in Morris, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011, after a long illness which she fought with dignity, pride and a strong will. She was 73 years old.
Jo Ann was a loving nother, loving wife and sister, and true friend to neighbors and church family; she loved teaching children. She adored her grandchildren and took pride in sharing their accomplishments through the years. Just last week they spent time at Thanksgiving laughing, singing and loving each other. One of Mom’s proudest moments was being crowned “Sweetheart Princess” at Jefferson Rehabilitation in February, 2009.
Our Mother was a special lady who taught us values, manners and provided ourChristian foundation. We will miss her greatly. Our blessing is she joins the love of her life in heaven, which gives us great comfort.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Dan Thomas; sister, Libby Martin, parents Mildred and Raymond Rollins and niece Vicki Kitter.
She is survived by her sister, Peewee Hawkins; daughters, Sherri Mauter, Laurie Morris and Susie Loggins. She was blessed with loving sons-in-law, Mike Mauter, Johnny Morris, James Gambrel and Jeff Loggins; grandchildren, Trent, Jesilyn and Mason Loggins, Nick and Ben Gambrel (Megan); great-grandchildren, Jack and Anna Scott Gambrel; adoring neices Robyn Hood and Mona Leopard, nephews Tim Martin and Jay Waites and a host of caring cousins.
The family would like to express appreciation to Ms. Rogers at Jefferson Rehabilitation and Beth Eades and Clay Wilder at New Beacon Hospice, who supported Mom and our family with kindness and compassion.
Special thanks to Betsy Hagood, a minister of music, who faithfully visits Jefferson rehabilitation every Sunday morning and shares music with the residents.
