Mother chases, beats accused child molester with pool cue
COMANCHE, Okla. — An Oklahoma man is charged with five counts of lewd acts with a child under the age of 12 after the child’s mother says she caught him molesting a five-year-old girl in the presence of three other children.
According to Stephens County Sheriff Wayne McKinney, the children’s mother saw what happened, grabbed a pool cue and chased Eric Absher, 40, from the home of a friend he was visiting in Comanche after the incident on June 25, said.
“She grabbed the nearest thing she could find and beat him pretty heavily,” McKinney said. “He was picked up by an innocent passerby who saw the woman chasing him.”
According to court documents a 6-year-old child who was there at the time also said Absher had exposed himself to her and the younger child more than once.
McKinney said police located Absher because of tips from the public and took him into custody Friday. Absher also had a warrant out for his arrest for forgery at the time he was taken into custody, according to court documents.
McKinney said they’re still in the process of conducting forensic interviews on two other possible victims and Absher could face additional charges.
If convicted, Absher faces up to life in prison, court documents state.
Police also charged Absher with lewd or indecent proposals to a child under the age of 16 in February for allegedly exposing himself to a 5-year-old, according to court documents. Judicial proceedings in that case have been continued to 2 p.m. Aug. 3.
