Obituary: Charles H. Pritchett
Charles H. Pritchett, 93, died peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness at Covenant Woods Assisted Living Facility in Gardendale. He was born in Holmes County, Fla. and lived and worked most of his life in Dothan. He was a veteran of the Army/Air Force serving in Italy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his mother Juanita Stokes, his stepfather A.Z. Stokes and his father Reever Pritchett. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Bell Adams Pritchett and his second wife of nine years, Gene Thompson Pritchett and his sister, Lynda Sue Holmes. Mr. Pritchett is survived by his daughter, Anita P. Arnold (Kevin) of Dothan; and son, Charles H. Pritchett Jr. (Anita) of Mt. Olive; stepdaughter, Dinah Woodham (James) of Midland City; and stepson, H.J. (Sonny) Thompson III (Bobbie) of Midland City. Surviving relatives also include three grandchildren, Julie Holmes (Donald) of Columbia, Andrea Flowers (David) of Raleigh, N.C. and Jennifer Glenn (Justin) of Gardendale and four stepgrandchildren, Ron Nowell; Ryan Nowell (Amanda); Rustin Nowell (Kesha) and Lara Postin (Marshall). Additionally he is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pritchett had a varied career during his working life as a photo engraver, theatre projectionist, photographer, taxi business and postal employee, prior to opening his construction company, Charles Pritchett Realty & Insurance, in 1956. Mr. Pritchett was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church in Dothan.
