Blountsville native retires from U.S. Navy
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Capt. Robert E. Hudson, a 1982 J.B. Pennington High School graduate and Blountsville native, recently retired from the U.S. Navy after honorably serving for 36 years.
Hudson was awarded the Legion of Merit during a ceremony held at the Joint Base Charleston Weapons Station Red Blank Club, in recognition for his accomplishments as both Joint Base Charleston Deputy Commander and Naval Support Activity Charleston Commander.
Joint Base Charleston is located in Goose Creek, South Carolina, under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Air Force 628th Air Base Wing, Air Mobility Command. The 628th Air Base Wing delivers installation support to a total force of over 90,000 Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, civilians, dependents, and retirees across four installations including the Air Base and the Weapons Station.
Joint Base Charleston also offers unique installation support missions including the harbor security patrol, the transportation isolation system (TIS), and the Cooper River dredging. The mission consists of 6 different focus areas: installation support, airlift & airdrop operations, training Naval nuclear operators, deployable logistics, multi-mission warfighter support and inter-agency cooperation.
Hudson earned a bachelor’s degree in 1987 from Auburn University, Auburn.
