Gardendale firefighters respond to three fires in four days
Gardendale rescue workers battled three fires in four days this week, with no injuries reported.
Gardendale Fire Marshall Lt. Rick Smith said the Gardendale Fire Department responded to a house fire at 7:30 p.m. on April 2 at the Cottages subdivision across from the Kenneth A. Clemons Soccer Complex.
The department received the call as a grass fire.
However, when firefighters arrived a garage and two yards were on fire.
“We forced entry into the home and were able to put the fire out with minimal smoke damage to the garage itself,” said Smith.
He said the fire was ruled accidental and was caused “from misuse of smoking products.”
