Second house fire victim dies from injuries
The daughter of an elderly Cullman woman, who died Tuesday in an early morning house fire near Cullman, succumbed to her injuries Thursday, according to reports.
Odell Bice, 80, died at the scene on County Road 706 shortly after the house fire erupted in her home around 2:30 a.m. Her daughter, Angela Hardin, passed away Thursday at UAB Hospital where she had been previously listed in critical condition.
Firefighters pulled the mother and daughter from the home Tuesday, and Hardin was flown to Birmingham.
Three others, including a child, managed to escape the fire before crews arrived on the scene. The Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office does not suspect foul play, and investigators believe an electrical box is the likely source of the fire.
The two deaths bring the total number of Cullman County fire fatalities in 2017 to four, with 45 statewide to date.
Arrangements have not been announced yet for Bice or Hardin.
