Wild game dinner to be held Feb. 29

The 12th Annual Men and Boys’ Wild Game Dinner is coming to Garden-dale First Baptist Church on Feb. 29. The doors open at 6 p.m., with more than a hundred men serving rattlesnake, buffalo, deer, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, quail, dove, catfish and more. Last year’s Wild Game Dinner drew a crowd of over 3,000 men and boys. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. • Happy birthday to Bonnie Lawson and Chuck Clendening, who each share their birthday on leap day, Feb. 29.

• Congratulations to Jean and Virgil McClendon who will be celebrating their 60th anniversary on Feb. 21. We hope you have another 60 years together.

• A dance will be held at the Gardendale Senior Center on Feb. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Country Pickers will be playing country music, from swing, line dance, gospel and slow dance. Entrance is free for adults 55 and over only. If you come, bring your favorite finger food to munch on during the break. The Country Pickers is a newly formed band composed of Jerry Bosworth, Jerry Bradley, Skip Drake, Lynn and Charles Kimbrough, Joe Isom and Glen Marsh.

• The North Arts Council is presenting their spring arts and craft show at the Gardendale Civic Center. It will be March 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be a good place to do your spring shopping with items such as jewelry, wood items, wreaths, paintings, etc. If you would like to have a booth at the show, please contact Angie Doss at 681-8028.

• Mark your calendars for April 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the seventh-annual Magnolia Festival at the Gardendale Civic Center. Entertainment will feature bluegrass, pop and Christian music, a classic car show, carnival rides, pony rides, inflatables for the kids, arts and crafts booths, business expo, food including barbeque, ice cream, and funnel cakes.
