Weather: Bye-bye, rain. Today we’ll see sunny skies with a high in the middle 80s. Tonight will be clear and somewhat cooler with lows in the lower 60s; some spots may reach the 50s. More of the same on Thursday with highs in the upper 80s.

New money chief for Gardendale schools. Randy Dunlap, who has been the chief schools financial officer for Cullman County Schools for 20 years, has been picked by the Gardendale Board of Education for that same position with the new system. Dunlap lives in Morris, and his wife is a librarian at Mortimer Jordan High School.

Lauren Bacall, 1924-2014. One of the last legends of Hollywood’s Golden Age died Tuesday. Bacall was a huge success in both movies and on Broadway, with movie hits in “Key Largo” (with Humphrey Bogart, whom she later married) and “How to Marry a Millionaire” with Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe. Bacall, who entered this world as Betty Joan Perske, left this world a month short of her 90th birthday.

Sports: Clippers officially change hands. A court ruling in California has cleared the way for Shelly Sterling, the estranged wife of former owner Donald Sterling, to sell the Los Angeles Clippers on the NBA to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The $2 billion sale, forced by the league because of racist remarks by Donald Sterling, has been held up because of legal maneuvers.
