City school board approves student trips
The Cullman City School Board approved three out-of-state or overnight trips during a short meeting Tuesday evening.
Fresh off this weekend’s state championship, the Cullman High School cheerleading team was approved to travel to the UCA Cheer National Championship in Orlando, Florida on Feb. 5-11.
Gifted students at East and West Elementary Schools also had trips approved, with the fifth graders traveling to the McDowell Environmental Center at Camp McDowell in Nauvoo on April 22-24 and sixth graders going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit the CNN Center and the World of Coca-Cola Museum on April 28.
In other business, the board:
Approved Nov. 2019 payroll of $2,141,631.74, invoices paid of $392,694.18, financial statements and bank reconciliations.
Gave permission to salvage a Dell Optiplex 755 computer from Head Start.
Gave permission to surplus/salvage seven VS250 projectors from Cullman High School.
Gave permission to contract with Ashley Morris to provide clerical services to Student Services as needed (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week) beginning Dec. 2 to Sept. 30 (IDEA and General Fund).

Genevieve Praytor, Head Start Pre-K Auxiliary teacher, effective Dec. 20.
Ginger Culver, Extended Day Program assistant teacher at West Elementary, effective Dec. 19.

Marianna Ruiz, Extended Day Program aide at Cullman City Primary School beginning Jan. 6.
Vicki Stewart, Extended Day Program (after school) teacher at East Elementary School, beginning Dec. 18.
Leaves of absence
Brandi Outzen, physical education assistant at Cullman City Primary School, requesting leave of absence on Feb. 28.
Holly Murphree, Pre-K special education aide at Cullman City Primary School, requesting on-the-job injury days.
Jeff Thomas, custodian at Cullman Middle School, requesting on-the-job injury days.
The Cullman City School Board will next meet on Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room.
