Grades keep Pinson Valley’s Earnest Robinson out of Auburn
New Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn will have to wait for Earnest Robinson.
The former Pinson Valley star could not get his grades up to the average required by the NCAA, and will have to enroll in junior college instead to continue play.
Robinson had been in summer school, trying to bump up some D grades to A’s and get his grade-point average to the required 2.0, but came up short.
He has enrolled in East Mississippi Community College, located in the town of Scooba — about midway between Meridian and Columbus.
Robinson, a wide receiver for the Indians, was generally rated as a four-star recruit by the major recruiting services, and was also ranked in the ESPN 150. He kept his early verbal commitment to Auburn despite the change in coaches.
