PREP ROUNDUP: Fairview rallies past Holly Pond; Cold Springs, Good Hope earn wins at Cullman County Softball Tournament

HANCEVILLE — Devan Fulmer smashed a deep fly ball that sailed just out of reach of the right fielder to propel Fairview to a walk-off 8-7 victory over Holly Pond in eight innings at the Cullman County Softball Tournament on Monday.

The Lady Broncos held a 7-4 lead late in the game, but the Lady Aggies secured three runs in the seventh inning — Katie Ball, Ally Hogeland and Kaitlyn Benson each provided two-out RBI hits — to tie things up and eventually set up Fulmer’s heroics.

Ball finished with three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Hogeland (two hits and two RBIs), Benson (one hit and one RBI), Fulmer (one hit and one RBI), Rebekah Deblanc (hit) and Abby Duke (hit) also had nice outings  for Fairview.

Gracie Bryan led Holly Pond with three hits. Lexi White (two RBIs), Kolby Holcombe (two RBIs), Katie Burnham (two RBIs), Madyson Rickman (RBI), Kalliann Perkins and Kaylee Stallings added one hit apiece.

% Cold Springs 4, Hanceville 3: The Lady Eagles recorded four runs in the sixth inning to overcome a three-run deficit and escape with a first-round victory over the Lady Bulldogs at the Cullman County Softball Tournament on Monday.

Hanceville grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third inning following three straight singles, but Cold Springs took advantage of a few errors in the sixth frame before Crimson Gann swatted a go-ahead double to put her team in front for the remainder of the clash.

Emily Williams (two), Gann (RBI), Drew Sanders, Victoria Freeman and Hayden Goodwin produced the only hits for the Blue and Gold.

The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, were led by Cassidy Campbell (RBI) and Gordana Oden, both of whom walloped two hits apiece. Alexia Edwards (RBI), Jay Hurst (RBI) and Isabella Elliott rounded out the offensive performance with one hit apiece.

% Editor’s Note: Good Hope and Vinemont played later in the night with the loser of that clash duking it out with Holly Pond shortly afterward. However, neither game was completed by deadline.

Anna Grace Luker (four hits and three RBIs), Abbie Chambless (three hits and two RBIs), Bri Ory (two hits and four RBIs) and Cecilee Gaither (two hits) were the best contributors for Addison. Madison Aderholt (three RBIs), Kendra Tyree (two RBIs), Brianna Chandler (RBI) and Macey Butler pitched in one hit apiece as well.
