LOCAL SPORTS: Catfish clinch 5th consecutive state diving championship
BIRMINGHAM — The Cullman diving team stretched its state dominance to half a decade Thursday, crushing the competition en route to its latest Alabama Recreation and Parks Association State Diving Championship.
Cullman left the Birmingham Crossplex with a whopping 308 points. Boaz and Madison were far behind with 174 and 72, respectively.
Cullman swept the top four in two different divisions. Reagan Ogstad, Cort McNeel, Noah Warren and Cooper Ogstad went 1-2-3-4 in the 10-and-under 1-meter, while Kelly Warren, Reese McNeel, Cabri Adams and Kennedy Kruger pulled off the feat for the 11-12 girls.
Reagan Martin (13-14 girls) and Anna Evans (15-18 girls) were Cullman’s other 1-meter state champions. Kelly Warren doubled up her winnings with the 3-meter title for the 12U girls.
Eliza Hollingsworth (12U girls) and Reagan Ogstad (12U boys) snagged second in the 3-meter. Jaedyn Martin (10U girls 1-meter), Hannah Ogstad (13-14 girls 1-meter) and Cort McNeel (12U boys 3-meter) were third at their respective heights. Cassie Dace (10U girls 1-meter) and Noah Warren (12U 3-meter) were fourth.
The swimming portion of the state meet will begin Friday and conclude on Saturday.
