PREP BASKETBALL: West Point’s Oldacre commits to Montevallo

West Point’s Miriam Oldacre has committed to the University of Montevallo.

The senior basketball standout made the announcement Wednesday on her Twitter account.

The Division II Lady Falcons compete in the Gulf South Conference.

Oldacre averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game during her junior season.

She helped the Lady Warriors, who finished with a 27-6 record, win the Cullman County Tournament and advance to the Northwest Regional Tournament for the first time since 2006.

The guard also recorded 74 steals, eclipsed 1,000 career points and garnered All-State (Class 5A third team), All-Area and All-County honors.

Oldacre said she chose Montevallo for many reasons, including the hometown feel, proximity to home, campus, facilities, coaching staff and players.

“I’m so excited to be able to pursue my dream of playing college basketball while receiving an education at the same time,” she said.
