Champ Crocker new local Democratic Party chairman (with update)
UPDATE Nov. 17, 2021: Editor’s Note: Crocker subsequently switched parties and has been in leadership in county and state Republican Party committees since 2018.
Accepting the chairman seat of the Cullman County Democratic Party was an easy decision for Champ Crocker.
“I’ve been a member of the Democratic Party all my life,” Crocker said.
Crocker, who is a practicing attorney in Cullman, recently became chairman to the party after the last chairman, Keith Kugler, decided to resign.
“I thought I could serve the Democratic Party well by doing this,” Crocker said.
Besides being a lifelong Democrat, Crocker has volunteered much of his time in the past for the Democratic Party itself.
“I’m on the state Democratic Executive Committee for House District 11 and I’m a former chairman of the young Democrats for Cullman County,” Crocker said.
Crocker plans to push the Cullman Democratic Party to new heights in the coming years.
“I want to build on the foundation that is there,” Crocker said. “Every election presents new challenges so I want to be proactive.”
Crocker has practiced law in Cullman for eight years and has worked as an Assistant Attorney General and as an adjunct law professor. He formerly served as Chairman of the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, as well as vice president of the Cullman Red Cross Chapter and has served on the Kiwanis Club Board of Directors.
He currently serves on the Alabama State Bar Committee on Disciplinary Rules and Enforcement and is a Sustaining Member of the Alabama Association for Justice.
Crocker earned a degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University in 1998. He is a 2001 graduate of Cumberland School of Law.
Crocker and his wife, Emily and their son, Henry, live in Cullman County.
