The Cullman Community Theater is looking for actors
The Cullman Community Theater is looking for actors who can improvise, interact with an audience and act out a scenario with or without dialogue.
“The people that we’re looking for don’t necessarily have to have theatrical experience,” said Tim Morris, a member of the Board of Directors for the Cullman Community Theater. “Of courses that’s helpful, but they do need to be able to perform, whether it’s juggling, pantomime or things that are kind of larger than life that entertain people.”
Auditions for The Commedia Pinocchio will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 2 to 3 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Art Center in the old House of Shoes building. Morris said the play is based on the actors in the production.
The Commedia art form originated in streets and market places of the early Italian Renaissance, when Italian street performers sometimes donned masks with exaggerated comic features to tell familiar stories while interacting with their audience.
