Corner Theatre breaks records at festival

Corner Theatre had a record-breaking weekend recently at Alabama’s Trumbauer Festival, which hosts high school theatre departments in the state of Alabama with more than 1,300 students attending this year.

Those honored include:

n Noah Holcomb: Best Actor of the One-Act Festival

• Kevin Allinder: 3rd Lighting Design

• Rhonda Erbrick: 1st Make-up Design

• Rhonda Erbrick and Ruben Williams: 2nd Classical Duet

• Destinee Herald: 2nd Make-up Design

• Destinee Herald and Aundrea Garrett: 3rd Duet Reader’s Theatre

• Tyler Sanford: 2nd Costume Design

• Ciara Staley: 3rd Make-up Design

• Matt Turner: 1st Solo Pantomime

• Matt Turner: 2nd Solo Contemporary Comedic Solo

• Justin Marbutt: All-Star Cast

• Natalie Kinsaul: All-Star Cast

• Destin Gilchrist : Trumbauer Spotlight Scholarship

• Destin Gilchrist : UAB Scholarship

• Rachael Humber: UAB Scholarship

Eleven auditionees (the largest from the state) received callbacks from university programs throughout the state of Alabama asking them to join their programs. Those 11 include: Rhonda Erbrick, Destin Gilchrist, Brittany Henderson, Stephanie Herren, Noah Holcomb, Josh Horton, Rachael Humber, Natalie Kinsaul, Justin Marbutt, Priscilla Walden, Ruben Williams.

Also, Corner Theatre’s one-act entry “Adaptation” received superior scores.

To date this school year, students have received $96,200 in Theatre Scholarship money.
