Corner school vandalized
Jefferson County law enforcement is searching for suspects involved in the vandalism of a Corner School building.
“Person [or persons] unknown damaged a greenhouse at Corner Middle School,” said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jack Self. “The damage consisted of making a hole in the side of the structure, throwing some of the plants into the parking lot and spray painting one of the outside walls of the greenhouse.”
The greenhouse is located next to the school’s football stadium. Reports say the vandals also broke a lock in the stadium’s ticket booth, and that there have been several incidents of vandalism over the past few months at the school.
“The subjects were caught on surveillance video but the quality was poor and they have not been identified,” said Self.
The video shows a group of people gathering at the stadium shortly before 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Several beer cans, a liquor bottle and a cooler were left behind near the scene of the vandalism. The suspects’ ages are unknown.
According to published reports, the school’s PTO decided to purchase four more cameras for the school’s surveillance system.
Anyone with information about the vandalism can call the sheriff’s office at 325-1450.
