The Gardendale Police Department recently arrested a man who was seen breaking into a vehicle at Walmart.

According to Lt. Marty Brown, officers responded to a call of a possible theft in progress on Dec. 23 at 7:45 p.m. Upon arriving, the victim told officers he had noticed someone staring at him after parking his truck in the parking lot.

The victim reportedly went inside for a moment and upon coming back out, he noticed the same person removing items from his truck.

The suspect, later identified as Brian David Bush, ran from the scene, dropping items taken from the truck.

Brown said officers then set up a perimeter and waited for the suspect to return to his vehicle he reportedly left in the parking lot. The suspect later returned and attempted to leave the parking lot, backing into a parked car in the process. Officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle before he left the parking lot.

Brown said the victim was able to positively identify the suspect.

Bush, 33, of Birmingham, was arrested on felony charges of unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle and second-degree theft of property. His bond was set at $30,000.
