Grabows and Arrows holds ground breaking on new building

A Fultondale business is not only moving, but is expanding considerably.

Grabows and Arrows, at 3524 Decatur Hwy., is relocating to a spot just south of Fultondale Elementary School.

Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery said the new location, on a visible spot on a hill, is the “gateway to north Jefferson,” adding that the large business will greet travelers as they head north on Decatur Highway.

“We thought we could be the hood ornament to north Jefferson County,” Brian Bowman said with a smile during a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday. He owns the business along with Grady Phillips. “We’re excited about what this business is going to do in the next 10 to 15 years.”

Grabows and Arrows opened three years ago. Bowman said the store is a sort of a side venture from their main business, Total Pain Solutions, which is a compounding and research and development company. Opening in Fultondale seven years ago, Total Pain Solutions employs more than 50 people and has 1.5 million customers worldwide, according to Bowman.

He said the business partners opened Grabows and Arrows in order to diversify their business holdings.

The business itself, slated to open in mid-November, will also be more diversified.

Phillips said the new name of the store will be Grabows Outdoors, and will include three other businesses inside: New Breed Archery, String Addictions and a hydro-dipping business that has yet to be named.

In addition, there will be indoor and outdoor archery ranges that will open the door to night shooting and archery tournaments.

The existing business sells archery equipment, but Bowman said the new one will also provide fishing equipment and guns.

“We’re proud of their accomplishments and the success they’ve had,” Lowery said.

The new business will have 13,500 square feet, including 5,000 square feet of retail space.
