PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: Lady Bearcats fall to No. 10 Brewer in OT 54-49
BREWER — Cullman’s girls nearly pulled off an upset on Tuesday night, but the Class 6A No. 10 Lady Patriots got the best of them late en route to a 54-49 overtime victory.
Sierra Easterwood (14) and Anna Katherine Eastman (12) combined for 26 points, including 17 in the first half to aid the Black and Gold to an eight-point halftime lead.
Brewer, however, erased its deficit in the third quarter and held off a scrappy Cullman team with five free throws during the extra time to escape with the home win.
The Lady Bearcats, who also received eight points from Victoria Barker, fell to 14-14 overall and 3-3 in area play.
Cullman’s boys lost to the Patriots 56-49.
% Madison Academy 74, Cold Springs 52: The 2A No. 5 Lady Eagles suffered only their second loss of the season after dropping a tough one to the 4A No. 2 Lady Mustangs on Thursday night.
Cold Springs (21-2) received excellent scoring contributions from Emme Willoughby (17 points), Elizabeth Hill (15) and Camryn Crider (14) inside Jesse George Gymnasium.
Madison Academy’s Destinee McGhee scored a game-high 20 points in the win. The Lady Mustangs are 24-1 on the season.

% Cold Springs 41, Madison Academy 24: Hayden Goodwin scored 14 points, Toni West added 10 and the Lady Eagles squashed the Lady Mustangs to improve to 15-3 this season.
Kylon Hamby (nine) and Hannah Stricklin (eight) rounded out the scoring for Cold Springs.
