PREP SPORTS: Addison’s Guthrie named Athlete of the Week

Hatton didn’t stand a chance against Addison last Friday night.

Zayne Guthrie made sure of that.

The senior quarterback completed 9 of 15 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns and added 184 yards and three touchdowns (nine carries) on the ground in his team’s 50-8 home triumph against the Hornets.

His scoring scampers came from 15, 25 and 99 yards out, respectively.

Logan Wilkins (20 yards) and Brett Smith (31 yards) hauled in the touchdown receptions.

Guthrie’s performance helped the Bulldogs (8-2) finish the regular season averaging 35.5 points per game.

He is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.

Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Mitch Smith Chevrolet, is open to all local athletes.

Nominations can be sent to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the person’s name, school and statistics.
