WALLACE STATE VOLLEYBALL: Lions finish regular season with perfect conference record

HANCEVILLE — Wallace State volleyball completed a perfect regular season run in Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) action on Wednesday night, sweeping archrival Gadsden State 25-21, 25-22, 25-17 on the road.

Wallace State (32-8, 14-0 ACCC), which clinched its seventh straight regular season conference title on Oct. 16 with a victory over Faulkner State, dominated its league foes this season by winning every single game.

Syretha Pride and BreAnna Thompson paced the way for Wallace State against Gadsden State. Pride had 16 kills, three blocks and three digs, and Thompson finished with 17 kills, four blocks and three digs. Pride leads the conference with 457 kills, and Thompson is second with 362.

Montana Clark added 12 digs and eight kills for the Lions, Alexandra Gamble had 25 assists, Kaci Kirk had nine assists and three digs, Sarah Ellen Battles finished with 10 digs, Savanna Tidwell added eight digs, and Bethany Johnson had seven kills and three blocks. 

Pride, Thompson, Clark, Kirk, Johnson and Olivia Walker are Wallace State’s sophomores this season. The group has won 27 of 28 conference matches and a pair of regular season titles in two years with the Lions.

Wallace State now turns its attention to the ACCC/NJCAA O&P District tournament, which the Lions will host Nov. 1-2 at Tom Drake Coliseum. The tourney features the top six seeds in the conference. Top-seeded Wallace State is the five-time defending tournament champion.
