MADISON — Cullman simply had no answers for Johnny Jackson on Thursday night.

The senior quarterback accounted for six total touchdowns, including five through the air, to lead Class 7A Bob Jones to a 48-12 win over the Bearcats.

The Patriots fired the opening salvo on the game’s first play as Jackson quickly got the ball out to wide receiver Rhys Dorsey, who blazed 90 yards to put the home team up 6-0. The two connected again later in the frame — this time from 50 yards out — to extend the lead to 13.

Cullman got on the board midway through the second quarter following a 6-yard scoring scamper by Cooper Loftin, but Jackson made it 20-6 heading into halftime with another touchdown toss on his squad’s ensuing possession.

The score remained until the Patriots added two quick touchdowns late in the third quarter — the first a 40-yard run by Jackson and the second a short punt return by Aaron Mitchell — to claim a comfortable lead.

Preston Gay’s 45-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Ogstad provided Cullman’s other score, but it was answered in kind by Jackson’s final two scoring strikes of the contest.

The Bearcats will host Mortimer Jordan next week.
